At "The Quarterback Camp" our mission will be all about the development of player skills, knowledge, and attitude. We will be conducting several QB camps during the football off-season. You will be able to find upcoming camp dates here.
Program snapshot...
Playing QB is about beginning the most knowledgeable offensive player on the field. We will review terminology, that we will be using during our camp. We welcome parent/guardians to stay and watch camp from a distance. If you have questions save them for after that days camp.
Our camp will begin promptly at 8 am and end at 10 am on scheduled days. The first day will also involve introductions.
1) Group Warm-Ups
2) QB Station Work
3) Route Running
4) Cardio
5) Strength training
We will only have limited time together, so there will always be homework!
Examples: Route Tree, strength-training, cardio-training, and nutrition.
Stance & Set-Up
We will spend time on proper footwork and technique.
Drops (3, 5, 7)
It's all about timing and the route tree.
Ball Handling
The lack of proper ball handling gets coaches and quarterbacks fired.
We'll cover all aspects of ball protection, whether in the pocket or transferring it to another player.
Sprint Out
This scheme helps avoid the blitz of an unstoppable defensive player.
Play Action
It's all about selling the run, drawing the safety up, and exploiting their position on the field.
Screens
Throwing screens...risk, reward, and touch.
Option Before & After LOS
An option in football is a play in which the quarterback must decide between keeping the ball and giving it to a running back on the fly.
Reading Defenses
Pre-snap reads are so important...this is what is happening by QB before they get the ball snapped.
Is the defense in single coverage or cover two? Identifying the Mike.
Hot routes and press coverage. Chemistry!
Leadership
We teach situational leadership and how important it is to always lead by example.
Route Running
All QB's need to understand how to run a route...Flat, Slant, Comeback, Curl, Dig In/Out, Post, Corner, Fly, SlowGo, Wheel, and Hitch. Pre-snap Motion.
